About OVO
OVO is an Indonesian digital wallet offering payments, loyalty points and financial services, run by PT Visionet Internasional. Grab describes completing a "100% ownership investment" in it in 2021, but the arrangement behind that is unusual: Grab owns 82.8 per cent of the shares of PT Bumi Cakrawala Perkasa, the Indonesian company that owns OVO, and those shares carry only 38.9 per cent of the votes because of a dual-class structure. Indonesian payment rules cap foreign investors at 85 per cent of ownership and 49 per cent of voting power, and Grab controls and consolidates the business through contractual arrangements with the other shareholders.
