Taiwan Beer is the flagship lager of Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor Corporation and its state-monopoly predecessor, brewed across the company's four breweries in Taipei, Zhunan, Wuri and Shanhua under TTL's Beer Division. Its best-known expression, sold as Taiwan Beer Gold Medal, is the dominant lager in Taiwan's domestic beer market, a position that traces directly to the decades in which the state tobacco and alcohol monopoly was the only legal producer before the market opened to competition when the monopoly system was abolished in 2002.
