About Duvel
Duvel is the strong blond ale of the Moortgat brewery. Albert Moortgat developed it after the First World War from an English-style ale using yeast obtained in Scotland, first calling it Victory Ale; a shoemaker's remark about "a real devil" gave it its name, and it has been sold as Duvel since 1923. Duvel Moortgat says the tulip-shaped Duvel glass dates from the late 1960s and that a 6.66% version launched in 2021.
