About Licher
Licher is the beer of the Licher Privatbrauerei Jhring-Melchior in Lich, Hesse. Johann Heinrich Jhring began brewing there in 1854 to supply his parents' inn, and the Jhring and Melchior breweries merged in 1923. Holsten took a stake in 1999, keeping the brand separate, and in 2004, the year of the 150th anniversary, Licher became part of the Bitburger Braugruppe. The brewery has also brewed the Benediktiner beers for the Ettal abbey's company since 2011.
