About Opal
Opal pastilles have been sold in Iceland since 1945 and Nói Síríus bought the brand at the end of 1995, in the same year it decided to become a food company only and sold off its soap and candle business. The range covers salmiak, raspberry and salt liquorice and berry-flavoured jelly rings, including sugar-free red, green and salmiak versions. It is one of the strong-flavoured Nordic liquorice brands that visitors find startling and locals treat as ordinary.
