About Tefal
Tefal was founded in 1956 by an engineer whose wife suggested applying the non-stick coating he used on fishing tackle to her frying pans. It made non-stick cookware a household product and is sold as T-fal in North America. Groupe SEB owns it, and the different name in America avoids a conflict with an existing trademark.
