About T'ga za Jug
T'ga za Jug ("Longing for the South") was created by Tikveš in 1973 at the request of Macedonian poets for the Struga Poetry Evenings festival, taking its name from a celebrated 19th-century poem of the same title by Konstantin Miladinov, written while he was homesick in Russia. It is a semi-dry, late-harvest red made from Vranec grapes picked later than the winery's standard harvest, at 12.5 per cent alcohol, with an intense red colour and flavours the winery describes as raisin and raspberry over aromas of ripe forest fruit and dried plum. In its first 40 years it sold 11.2 million litres; annual production is now around 800,000 litres, and it remains Tikveš's best-known wine.
