About Saupiquet
Saupiquet is the French canned fish brand Arsène Saupiquet started as a sardine cannery in Nantes in 1877, and it introduced the ring-pull key opening to canned fish in 1889. Bolton bought it in 1999, its most important French acquisition, complete with fishing vessels and factories. Bolton's own heritage page dates the brand to 1891 while its brand page dates the cannery to 1877; the earlier, more specific date is used here.
