Trojan is owned by Church & Dwight (the United States, NYSE: CHD), which acquired the brand on 28 September 2001.[1][2] Trojan was founded in 1916 in the United States and was independent until 2001.
Trojan is the leading condom brand in the United States, dating to 1916, with a market share that has hovered around three quarters for decades. Church & Dwight acquired it with Carter-Wallace in 2001, and the brand has funded sexual health research and campus health rankings as part of its marketing.
Church & Dwight acquired the consumer products business of Carter-Wallace for about $739 million in a joint transaction, taking Trojan condoms and First Response pregnancy tests. It transformed a company known mainly for baking soda into a broad household and personal care group.
