OxiClean is owned by Church & Dwight (the United States, NYSE: CHD), which acquired the brand on 1 August 2006.[1][2] OxiClean was founded in 1997 in the United States and was independent until 2006.
OxiClean is an oxygen-based stain remover launched in 1997 and sold through infomercials fronted by the shouting pitchman Billy Mays, whose delivery made the brand recognisable well beyond its buyers. Church & Dwight acquired it in 2006 as part of the Orange Glo International portfolio.
Church & Dwight acquired Orange Glo International, owner of OxiClean, for about $325 million. OxiClean had been built almost entirely through televised direct-response advertising, a channel most large consumer goods companies had ignored.
