About Veuve Clicquot
Veuve Clicquot was founded in 1772, and its widowed owner Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin took over at 27 and ran it for decades. She invented the riddling table in 1816, the method of gradually turning bottles to collect sediment in the neck, which made clear champagne possible and is still used.
