BodyArmor is owned by Coca-Cola (the United States, NYSE: KO), which acquired the brand on 1 November 2021.[1][2] BodyArmor was founded in 2011 in the United States and was independent until 2021.
BodyArmor is a sports drink founded in 2011 by Mike Repole, who had previously built Vitaminwater, and positioned against Gatorade on coconut water and the absence of artificial dyes. Coca-Cola acquired full control in 2021 for $5.6 billion, its largest brand acquisition to that point.
Coca-Cola paid $5.6 billion for the remaining stake in BodyArmor, its largest brand acquisition ever. It bought a sports drink built explicitly to attack Gatorade, giving Coca-Cola a credible competitor in a category PepsiCo had dominated for decades.
